Yes, you can.
Filters are created based on properties. The properties & products are created in PIM and subsequently sent to the CMS.
- In the CMS you go to Catalog > Products > Properties
- Open the property you want to add a description to
- In the field "description" you can add additional info.ning in a pop-up when you click it
