About this article

This article explains how to create successful promotions in NextChapter. Learn about the key settings, how to link promotions to webshops, and how to manage product-dependent conditions and actions.

Introduction

Promotions are a powerful tool to boost revenue and engage customers. In the NextChapter back office, you can configure promotions ranging from cart-based to product-based. This article covers:

  • Linking promotions to specific sites
  • Managing product-dependent conditions and actions
  • Choosing between cart and product promotions

Setting Up Promotions

Promotions are managed in the CMS under Marketing > Promotion Management.

General Settings

The foundation of a promotion consists of conditions and actions.

For example: "A product in category A qualifies for a 10% discount."

  • Unique Code: An identifier for the promotion (not to be confused with a promo code).
  • Type of Promotion:
    • Cart Promotion: Visible in the shopping cart.
    • Product Promotion: Visible on product listing and detail pages.
  • Combine with Other Promotions:
    • Active: Can coexist with other promotions.
    • Inactive: Invalid if other promotions are active.
  • Promotion Policy:
    • Discounts are not applied multiple times by default.
    • For exceptions, set "Ignore Promotion Policy" to Yes.
  • Conditions Policy:
    • "Meet all conditions" or "Meet one condition."
    • "No conditions" makes the promotion always valid.
  • Additional Options:
    • Minimum/maximum amounts
    • Start and end dates
    • Application limits
    • Promotion priority (for conflicting promotions).

Conditions

Conditions determine when a promotion is valid. They can depend on:

  • Products, brands, or subtotals: Specify what qualifies.
  • Promo Code: Set this up via Marketing > Promotions > Promo Code.
  • Ensure conditions are logical and feasible. Impossible combinations, such as requiring multiple brands while all conditions must be met, will render the promotion non-functional.

Actions

Actions define the type of benefit customers receive, such as:

  • Percentage discount
  • Fixed discount in euros
  • Free products or amounts

Note: A unique code is required here as well, though it does not affect the promotion’s functionality.

Common Questions

  • Why isn’t my promotion working? Check if conditions are realistic and actions are correctly configured.
  • How do I apply promotions to multiple webshops? Create separate promotions for each webshop if the conditions or actions are product-dependent.
