Can images also be imported?

Introduction

Product images are of course a very important part of your product information. You can manually add product images in PIM. If you have many images or products, this can be a time-consuming job. Besides the manual way, there is also a faster and automated way to add product images in PIM, via import process from an sFTP server. In this article you can read how this works and any further explanation. 

How does it work?

The basic principle is that the image files are placed on an sFTP server and NextChapter automatically imports those files and places them with the products in PIM.

For the integration we first need an sFTP. This can be an FTP that NextChapter provides or a private sFTP location that you have yourself.  

On this sFTP we have a location where the images can be uploaded. This is the "Images" folder. When double-clicking on this folder you will see two other folders, 'Processed' and 'xml'. The processed images are placed in 'Processed'. 'xml' contains the XML that PIM reads.

The 'Images' folder is relevant to you, where you place the images. 

We always agree in advance what the images should be called. PIM must have a unique ID of a product. This is often the EAN or the Article number. To determine the order of the image moves, you can add an extension with a number after the product ID, such as an 'underscore'. The images will then look like this:

EAN_10 -> This is the first image

EAN_20 -> This is the second image 

EAN_30 -> This is the third image 

This process runs at one or more agreed times. After these moments the images are visible in PIM. If any images that you have uploaded are missing, please check the 'Images' folder on the FTP. The images that are still here could not be uploaded, this is due to a typo in the EAN.
