The Store Locator is a functionality in the NextChapter platform, where NextChapter uses Google Maps to indicate your stores on the map.
It sometimes happens that the map no longer works.
The cause of this lies with Google Cloud Platform, of which Google Maps is a part.
In many cases, the cause is that your payment method in your Google Cloud Platform has been deleted or is no longer correct. Google will then ensure that your webshop can no longer show the map.
Does your card no longer work and do you also offer PostNL or DHL collection points?
The Google map is also used in these functionalities. This will no longer work in those features either. The solution is the same.
How do you solve this?
As mentioned, the solution lies within the Google Cloud Platform. As a webshop owner, you are the owner of your Google Cloud Platform account. You can therefore roll out the solution yourself (NextChapter cannot access that data and therefore cannot play a role in this).
- Sign in to Google Cloud Platform
- Go to payment methods and check whether your payment method needs to be updated
- Good to know: the use of the Google map is free up to an x number of views. This number is so large that you can almost always use the card for free. However, Google always asks for a payment method as a backup, which is mandatory (even if you pay nothing)
- Once your payment method has been updated, you will see that the card in your Store Locator works immediately again!
